We're Going to Ibiza!

Well actually, I'm already here...today is my last day on the White Isle and it's been picturesque to say the least! I woke up this morning at 6.30am (local time) to watch the sunrise and I'm so glad I did it. Talk about food for the soul. The beach was completely deserted and untouched, one might say perfect!

The Beach

Ibiza for me has not been your clubbing, girls holiday but one with my parents and my sisters and some much needed R&R. I've spent the week relaxing by the pool or on the beach, reading and snoozing and it has been fabulous. We are staying on the North East side of the island in a little town called Cala Illenya, in a villa, five minuets walk from the beach. The water has been gorgeous and warm, a lovely rest bite from the heat, just be carful of the small jellyfish!

 The Hippy Market

This was something my mother was very excited to see, a throw back to her youth of flower power and peace signs and it was lovely. Quite literally a market run by hippies, it a nice to see all of the handmade jewellery and leather goods. Of course, just like with any tourist spot you get the odd bits of tat but I have to say the majority of it was really quite nice!

Ibiza's Spiritual Qualities

I have been told that due to the red soil that can be found on Ibiza, the Spiritual power of the island is quite high.  The islanders believe that nature is a healer and, as you can see, Ibiza is a paradise so is a great healer.

However, there is an over riding feel that Ibiza is turning too commercial, with parking lots popping up at every corner, sun loungers lining the beaches and everyone becoming less in touch with the beauty that is the natural elements of the island. Every morning I have been picking a lemon off of the lemon tree in the garden for my lemon water and they've been the best lemons I've ever had! I'm defiantly going to miss the simple connection to nature and the truly organic origin of those lemons.

It's true that Ibiza has a party reputation but I am yet to see it (apart from the odd billboard advertising the next best club night). So please don't be put off by that party reputation-there are many retreats, get always and healing spots to give you the relaxing, rejuvenating holiday that you need.
