August Favourites

I'm sorry for the lack of posts recently, it's all been quite crazy on this side of the keyboard! My boyfriend, Ash and I are moving into our first grown up flat together!!! So we have been busy (and still are busy) trying to get everything sorted ready for our move! I will post pictures of our new bits and pieces when they start arriving.

I can't believe its September already, the temperatures dropped, I'm wearing jumpers and feeling very Autumnal. I mentioned a few posts ago that I was going to start doing a 'favourites' series, and with the change of the seasons fast approaching here are my August Favourites.

Navy

I am completely obsessed with Navy the moment! It's one of those odd colours that is both a warm and a cool colour. It is cool because it's a blue, but because of the rich deep hue you get in Navy, it also makes it a warm colour and I love it! I have found the best paint colours for Navy are Farrow & Ball. They give a really dark, flat, inky finish are great at creating that moody look. The below picture features Stiffkey Blue.

This is also my most recent purchase for our flat! A navy shade with a copper inner. Thank you made.com. For more copper ideas please see my previous blog post 'Are You A Copper Convert?

Over sized headboards

I am loving oversized headboards at the moment! They add a touch of drama to your bedroom and it is  great way of creating a focal point. Be creative with you headboards, use an unusual fabric or pattern, experiment with textures and images and go big or go home - the bigger headboard the better!

Hanging bedside lights

I'm really into this new trend - a twist on a bedroom essential and its fab! A really elegant, etherial way to introduce light. You can get some fantastic pendants to so be creative with your choices.

Marble

The marble trend is huge in fashion as well as interiors and its great! I've seen it everywhere from bowls to walls, to tiles, to nail varnish, to rubic cubes (yes I said it - picture below). This fire place is incredible! The marble is beautiful and creates a stark contrast with the floor. The texture marble brings to a space adds warmth and 'cozyness' which every space should aim for.
